 the company is also going ahead with Android OS for wearables. At the

Chrome and Google Apps for the company, said Google would be <a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" target="_blank">releasing an Android SDK</a> for wearable developers by the end of the month.

While Google is rumored
 to have its own Nexus-branded smartwatch on the way, possibly by the 
time <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/google-to-launch-android-sdk-for.html" target="_blank">Google</a> I/O kicks off in June (if not earlier), the SDK is designed 
for use with other <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/google-to-launch-android-sdk-for.html" target="_blank">smartwatch </a>makers using the wearable focused Android 
OS.<br />

Using an Android powered smart jacket as an example, Pichai also said 
at <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/google-to-launch-android-sdk-for.html" target="_blank">SXSW</a> that its wearable Android <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/google-to-launch-android-sdk-for.html" target="_blank">SDK</a> is not just for smartwatches but 
for wearables of all sorts. He said the company is releasing the 
developer kit well ahead of hardware release dates in order for Google 
to fine tune the system. Many have suggested this could be as much for 
developers of other wearable devices at it is a beta run for Google's 
own smartwatch technology.<br />

Beyond that, Pichai also mentioned some interesting <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/google-to-launch-android-sdk-for.html" target="_blank">developments</a> that could be on the horizon for the recently acquired Nest Labs.
 Google is is thinking about some kind software "mesh layer" over the 
existing system that will better allow its various devices to

Google's Android has effectively overtaken Apple's iOS in terms of 
worldwide tablet sales. According to research conducted by<a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank"> Gartner </a>last 
month, Android tablets <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank">collectively dominated</a> the tablet market in 2013 with sales of 120.9 million units and a market share of 61.9 percent.<br />

Compared with the year 2012, when 53.3 million Android tablets were 
sold, 2013 witnessed a whopping 127 percent surge in worldwide sales of 
Android tablets. Over the same period, iPad sales grew to 70.4 million 
from 61.4 million.<br />

The dramatic boost in sales from several different<a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank"> manufacturers</a> had 
Android gaining the largest share in the tablet market. While Android's 
market share grew from 45.8 percent in 2012 to 61.9 percent in 2013, 
iOS's market share dropped from 52.8 percent to 36 <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank">percent </a>during the 
same period.<br />

Increased demand for low-cost tablets from <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank">off-brand</a> manufacturers 
especially in the emerging markets had a negative effect on Apple's 
market share. While overall tablet sales grew by 145 percent in emerging
 countries, the figure stood still at 31 percent in mature markets.<br />

The <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank">iPad</a> remains the most sought after tablet nonetheless and with that
 Apple retained its spot as the <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank">top tablet</a> maker, followed by Samsung, 
which reported 37.4 million in sales, and had a market share of 19.1 
percent. The South Korean company showed a <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/googles-android-has-effectively.html" target="_blank">phenomenal</a> growth last year 
compared with 2012, when it sold just 8.5 million tablets.<br />

company is looking to do something no other smartphone manufacturer has

You may recall that <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/karbonns-new-smartphone-with-android_4.html" target="_blank">Karbonn </a>is one of the new Windows Phone partners that Microsoft announced
 at the start of <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/karbonns-new-smartphone-with-android_4.html" target="_blank">MWC</a> 2014. Thanks to eased regulations on Windows Phone 
hardware, <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/karbonns-new-smartphone-with-android_4.html" target="_blank">Karbonn</a> has been able to develop a dual-booting phone set for 
release in June, along with a few other Windows Phones that we'll see in
 a few month's time.<br />

The company's dual-booting handset is supposed to target "office-going 
professionals and 'techies'", although no <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/karbonns-new-smartphone-with-android_4.html" target="_blank">specifcations </a>nor a price for 
the smartphone has been revealed.<a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/karbonns-new-smartphone-with-android_4.html" target="_blank"> Karbonn</a> devices are typically found 
across Asia were competition is fierce, so it's unlikely the handset 
will be high-end or expensive.<br />

Most devices that run more than one operating system aren't 
particularly successful, as two separate environments can be tricky to 
manage and unfriendly to use. How <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/karbonns-new-smartphone-with-android_4.html" target="_blank">Karbonn's </a>Android and Windows Phone 
smartphone will turn out remains to be seen, but at least it's doing 
something people haven't tried before.

Google is making life a bit easier for those in search of a 
restaurant’s menu. Instead of having to search for a restaurant, follow a
 link to their site then navigate to the menu section (or download a 
.PDF of the menu), the search giant has <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/restaurant-menus-in-search-results-og.html" target="_blank">added menus</a> from multiple eateries directly to search results in the form of cards.<br />

Simply search for the menu of the restaurant you’re looking for and 
cross your fingers that it has already been added. It was a bit hit or 
miss for me at this point but that’s likely to improve as more menus are
 added to the system.<br />

When you do stumble on a hit, you’ll find the menu broken down into 
different categories (appetizers, soups & salads, pasta, etc.). All 
of the listings I came across featured a description of each item as 
you’d find in the regular menu while a select few even listed the price –
 very convenient.<br />

<br />
The menu cards show up at the top of the page above the search results 
and are extremely handy, especially on mobile devices. The service is 
only available in the US as of writing but again, I suspect this will 
change over time and more regions will be added.<br />
<br />

Urbanspoon and Yelp have been the two main players in the online 
restaurant information and ratings business for the past several years. 
It’s far too early to know if Google’s new service will have a huge 
impact on either of those two outfits but I wouldn’t be surprised if it

messaging app on iOS. Version 2.0 is the first major update since the 
company added phone calls late last year, and aside from introducing a

language, it also brings several new features including animated 
stickers, 10 second video messages, and a two-pane view on the iPad.<br />

Google’s Frank Petterson made the <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/google-hangouts-for-ios-gets-visual.html" target="_blank">announcement on Google+</a>
 this morning along with a quick rundown on the new features. The app 
offers shortcuts to your Hangouts contact list, favorite people to chat 
with, recent Hangouts, and voice calling to regular phones over the 
Internet -- free in the US and Canada only.<br />

The new<a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/03/google-hangouts-for-ios-gets-visual.html" target="_blank"> video</a> messaging feature works within the same camera option 
under the paper clip icon found at the bottom left of open chats. 
Whereas tapping the shutter button produces a quick snap to share in

recording up a 10-second video message. You can also send images from 
your device’s camera roll (still no pre-recorded videos, though), send

 the update recently on the Google <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/02/google-chrome-3301750117.html" target="_blank">Chrome</a> Blog. The new feature is 
designed to update and enhance one introduced in the Fall of last year 
that allows Chrome users to easily reset browser settings back to their 
original state.<br />

<a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/02/google-chrome-3301750117.html" target="_blank">Hijacker</a>s can introduce malicious code through free software downloads 
and things of that nature that alter Chrome settings, as you may know. 
Typically they introduce ads and other methods of monetization into your
 daily web browsing and then lock you out so you can't revert back to 
the factory settings.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/02/google-chrome-3301750117.html" target="_blank">Upson</a> explains that even though <a href="http://askneed.blogspot.com/2014/02/google-chrome-3301750117.html" target="_blank">Google</a> introduced the revert function last October, settings hijacking remained the company's "number one user complaint."
 He goes on to say the feature will prompt "Windows users whose settings
 appear to have been changed" to set the system back to the factory
